Wind Dancer Part 1 - an oil painting tutorial by Nancy Rynes

Описание к видео Wind Dancer Part 1 - an oil painting tutorial by Nancy Rynes

Arabian horses are, to many, the epitome of grace and beauty. I'll never forget the first time I saw one running in the land where they were originally bred -- the area we now call Arabia. I was participating in an archaeological dig near Amman, Jordan, and was getting ready to start digging a new trench. I happened to look down onto the valley below where I saw one of the King's grooms riding an incredible Arabian horse at full speed over the sand. That horse just seemed to dance over the landscape like the wind, and that became the inspiration for the title of this piece.

Unusually for me, I used a Creative Commons - licensed image by Aislinn Brander as the reference for this painting. I recommend that even if you use a Creative Commons image, you credit the photographer and give him/her a donation as a way of saying thanks. In this case, I gave Aislinn a donation for the use of her photo reference, and when this painting sells, I will give her an additional donation in gratitude.

For this painting I used Gamblin Paints (#gamblincolors #gamblin ):
-Titanium White
-Cadmium Red Medium
-Cadmium Lemon
-Cobalt Blue
-Raw Umber
-Yellow Ochre (not really necessary)

I did not use any medium in my paint for this piece.
