👮🔊 NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch joined 1010 WINS anchor Larry Mullins on Tuesday to provide an update on crime in the city. According to police data, the first five months of 2025 have seen the lowest number of shootings and murders in recorded history.

The department has been measuring crime data for the past 32 years, Tisch said, and there has never been a January to May period with such low numbers citywide. Tisch touted the NYPD's removal of 22,000 illegal guns from NYC streets over the last three years, and with a 46% decline in murder and a 39% decline in shootings in 2025, she said that she believes numbers will stay down for the summer.
