Day 3 took us along the banks of Loch Lommond, we chose to take the low road rather than the high road where the trail split two different ways. The low road was a bit of a double edged sword. The trail was super fun, slightly technical and beautiful, however it was also very hard on the knees particularly carrying an 18kg back pack 🥵 By the end of the Loch my knees were shot and I was struggling over the rocks.

The Loch seemed to go on forever, but eventually opened up into a meadow and then onwards up into the hills which was spectacular. It really felt like we were heading for the highlands.

We were booked to stay at Beinglas Farm, but hoped to Wild camp again so pushed on past the campsite (despite our tired legs and feet) and pushed on to where we thought the end of the camping management zone was. We didn’t find a sign signaling the end of the no camping zone as we had the previous day and it was becoming apparent that the terrain was not suitable for camping at all. It was very wet, full of rocks and there were no flat spots at all.

we continued to look for somewhere to camp for a further 2 miles before deciding to head back to Beinglas where we stayed for the night.

Beinglas Farm was the best campsite, super friendly and lots if hikers. There is a restaurant type pub that serves food and drink, and a great breakfast. The facilities were amazing, very clean and tidy, there was even a little resupply shop. We wished we had stopped there originally.

Lesson learned 🤦🏼‍♀️
