The East African Legislative Assembly is calling for a uniform policy on the control and management of single-use plastics in the region as it passes a motion to introduce the East African Community Prohibition of Manufacturing, Importation, Use and Sale of Single–Use Plastics Bill 2023. The bill seeks for partner states to cooperate and co-ordinate their policies for the management of single use plastics with only Rwanda, at the moment, effectively implementing the enforcement.
