For more than fifteen years, communities along the road linking Maga to the historic Zuru Emirate in Kebbi State say they have been trapped by neglect. Once a vital commercial route, the road has deteriorated into a dangerous stretch riddled with potholes, forcing vehicles to slow down and leaving travellers vulnerable to bandit attacks. Residents say the poor state of the road has crippled local trade, isolated the Zuru Emirate, and worsened insecurity across the area.
