Grandmother and Nasro have recently returned from their spiritual journey to Karbala. Their trip was filled with sacred memories and moments of deep devotion. They still carry in their hearts the atmosphere of Bein al-Haramain and the shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abolfazl (AS). In Iran, it is a tradition that when someone returns from visiting holy cities, relatives and close ones come to see them—both to honor their pilgrimage and to hear about their spiritual experiences. Today, it was the turn of Mahboubeh’s father’s family to visit Grandmother and Nasro. They entered the house with sweets and fruit, sitting respectfully beside Grandmother. The room was filled with warmth, reverence, and an eagerness to hear about the journey to Karbala. Everyone was curious to know how the pilgrimage had gone, what hardships were endured, and what beautiful moments were experienced along the way. Since just a few days ago it was Arbaeen, the spirit of mourning is still alive in Grandmother’s heart. With a trembling, sorrowful voice, she began to recite elegies. Each verse she sang drew tears from the eyes of those present. Silence fell over the room, broken only by her quivering voice and the sighs of grief around her. In that moment, the home seemed to transform into a small Hussainiya, where the love and sorrow for Imam Hussein (AS) brought hearts closer together.
