With phase 1 having been out for over 4 months now, everyone is wondering - when is phase 2 releasing, and in this video, we have answers!

Back in November we had a supposed “leak” that is now clearly not real which predicted a second season of mastery and a January 9 phase 2 ulduar release, however, that is not the phase 2 release date.

January 9 is however the date in which season 5 will end - per Blizzard:

Season 5 will end at 10:00 p.m. PST on January 9. During maintenance on January 10, we will update the game, and all Arena points will be converted to Honor.

And what is great about knowing this date is that we can look back at TBC Classic and predict exactly how far from when season 1 ended, did phase 2 release? The answer? ONE WEEK.

Arena season 1 ended on September 7th, and there was a 1 week offseason. Arena season 2 began on September 14th, one week later, and that same week, the phase 2 content unlocked at the same time for all regions worldwide on Wednesday September 15th at 3pm PDT.

One week from January 9 is January 16, and well here you have it - Joyous Journeys will be available from December 13 through January 16, 2023. Blizzard perfectly aligns the end date of Joyous Journeys with the same week as the release of Phase 2 - Ulduar.

That’s not all though- We can look to Burning Crusade Classic’s phase release schedule to determine when phase 2 will be released.

phase 1 was in TBC for approximately 4 months - June 1 until September 14.

Wotlk Classic has already been out for more than 4 months - August 30 through January now, meaning we’ve already had a longer phase 1 wrath than phase 1 tbc, and I remember phase 1 tbc feeling really long. It’s very similar though - two lair bosses and 1 raid - just like Karazhan with Magtheridon’s lair and Gruul’s lair. Thankfully Naxxramas has a 25 player mode though.

Phase 1 (Launch): Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, and Magtheridon's Lair
Phase 2 (September 14, 2021): The Eye and Serpentshrine Cavern
Phase 3 (January 17, 2022): Battle for Mount Hyjal, Black Temple and Arena Season 2
Phase 4 (March 22, 2022): Zul'Aman and Arena Season 3
Phase 5 (May 12, 2022): Quel'Danas and Sunwell Plateau
Ending (August 30, 2022): All Burning Crusade Classic servers transitioned to Wrath of the Lich King Classic.

So, in summary, Using all this data we can assume phase 2 will release and be available on either Tuesday January 17, or Wednesday January 18 if they decide on a simultaneous global release like they did with phase 2 TBC Classic.


Knowing my luck, the day this video goes live we’ll have an official announcement on the release date from Blizzard, but we’re really only weeks away in my opinion.
