Dutch Regenboog Championship - NK Regenboog zeilen 2023 - Episode 64

In this episode we show you how we accompanied the Dutch Regenboog sailing Championships. 25 beautifull Regenboog (Rainbow) ships were competing in the Dutch National Championship at the Westeinderplassen.
It was a fantastic event and we had a great weekend. Even though there was not much wind, we enjoyed al the beautiful coloured ships and with the 5 races they sailed during the weekend the championship was successful and valid.

The Regenboog club is the class organization of the Regenboog, a wooden three-man open keel boat that has been sailing in competitions since 1917, making it the 'Oldest National Unity Class'.
Due to the high level of sailing and the sociable nature of the class, it attracts many former Olympic and other top sailors. The Regenboog is a spectacular ship to sail with.

The Regenboog 56 (Oranje) is a gift presented to H.M. King Willem-Alexander and H.M. Queen Máxima on the occasion of their wedding. It is an old tradition that the heir to the throne in the Netherlands is presented with a nautical gift at his or her wedding. The ORANJE is therefore a worthy successor to the PIET HEIN (marriage of Queen Juliana to Prince Bernhard) and the GROENE DRAAK (marriage of Queen Beatrix to Prince Claus).
The Regenboog 56 Foundation “De Oranje” manages this Regenboog and gives talented sailors the opportunity to sail in the 56 for an entire season.

Hello everyone!
We are Rob and Jouke and together with our boat cat Tijger we love sailing.
In 2013 we bought our first sailboat, a 9 meter kolibri named Sirius, to spend our weekends and holidays.
At first Sirius's home port was Aalsmeer, because we are connected to a sailing club in Aalsmeer and loved to spend our time there.
After a couple of years we wanted to be able to sail on bigger water without the hussle of all the bridges to get there. It was alway such a struggle to wait for bridges and hope to get through to Haarlem or Amsterdam.
So in 2021 we decided to move Sirius to Hellevoetsluis, situated at the beautiful Haringvliet.
The North Sea is only 1 lock away, so a whole new playground is at our disposal.
