Conrad Anker and JImmy Chin on "Meru"

Описание к видео Conrad Anker and JImmy Chin on "Meru"

Conrad Anker and Jimmy Chin take you behind-the-scenes and share how they climbed Meru, a 21,000-foot peak in Garhwal Himalayas in India. Their film "Meru" captures how they climbed this peak that involved mixed alpine climbing and achieved their dream of scaling up "Shark's Fin" that sits on top of the mountain. Climbing this sheer granite wall called "Shark's Fin" of Mount Meru is the dream of many mountaineers.

Anker, Chin, and Renan Ozturk the third member of their team became the first to ascent Meru via the central summit.

Anker's dream was to climb Meru, and this was the dream of his mentor Terrance "Mugs" Stump, who passed away in a mountain climbing accident in 1992.

Chin was inspired to climb the mountain becasue his mentor Anker wanted to climb this "Anti-Everest," as Jon Krakauer, well-kown author and mountaineer put it in the film.

Tune in to find out about the film, climbing mountains, Meru and what draws them to climb mountains. Anker has climbed Mt. Everest 3 times, and Chin has climbed Mt. Everest once and skied down the world's highest peak.
