♻ At the #GoodAirSummit, on the occasion of World Environement Day, the session “Closing the Loop – Circular Economy for a Regenerative World” sparked meaningful dialogue on how we can build systems where waste becomes a valuable resource.

Changemakers from the fields of sustainability, innovation, and grassroots activism came together to share practical strategies for designing out waste, keeping materials in continuous use, and regenerating natural ecosystems — all with the goal of creating a resilient and greener future.

Key Takeaways from Experts:

Akash Kaushik, Co-Founder of Good Enough Energy, highlighted the economic burden of pollution, noting that an estimated 7% of India’s GDP is spent on pollution-related health issues. He stressed the need for government policies that actively promote innovation in environmental health and sustainability.

Mukul Chhabra, Founder of ScrapUncle, emphasized the importance of early education in driving a behavioural shift. He shared that we must begin by teaching our children the value of a clean and healthy environment — whether through positive incentives or by making them aware of the consequences of neglect.

Prof. Dr. Sanjeev Bagai, Padma Shree Presidential Awardee, pointed out a major issue in household waste management, stating that 80–90% of homes in Delhi use only one waste bin. He underscored the need for proper segregation of waste through color-coded systems to enable effective recycling and disposal.

Chinuu Kwatra, Founder of Khushiyaan Foundation and moderator of the session, reflected on the contradiction in citizen behavior. He remarked that while people follow waste management rules abroad, many fail to do the same in India — often littering in public spaces despite having the awareness and means to act responsibly.

The session brought forward urgent and actionable ideas, underscoring the collective responsibility of individuals, communities, and policymakers in closing the loop and fostering a truly circular economy.
