Video door Wereldreizigers.nl - ga naar https://www.wereldreizigers.nl | So this is day two. Woke up at 02:00am, quick pancake for breakfast and there we went. Pain everywhere, muscles soaring, barely got any sleep on the 1 cm thin mats we've had to sleep on.

But no time to feel sorry for yourself. You have a mission to complete, to see the sun rise when at the peak of the volcano. It's a 3 hour climb, 4 if you're a bit slow.

So after a quick break and a few pics at the top, you go back to base camp. You eat something, and there you go again. Allllll the way down to the crater lake. This will take you aprox 4 hours. Have a quick swim there, some lunch, and guess what? You need to get up your feet again, go up again, climbing to the other side of the crater rim. This is another 4 to 5 hours. At this point you really feel sorry for yourself, and you wish it to be over. But don't cry, you cannot stay behind, you have to continue.

When you've made it to second base camp it's almost dark, and you realize you have been climbing and descending the-whole-day. Not just the whole day, also half of the night before!

But as you sit down for dinner, with a few very sweet stray dogs around you, the Gili's and Bali in the distance when the sun sets, you get a major sense of fulfillment. Proud of yourself, you've done it. You've did something not many people do, you've been to a place where 'normal people' don't go. And even if they go, half of them doesn't make it according to the guides.

One more day to come, the way back down. And of course loads of pictures and videos. A trip to remember for the rest of your life.
