Do you like how Harleys sound?

When I first started riding, I always thought that HD motorcycle engines were about to stall, but there's a reason for their distinctive sound.

Harley’s traditional V-twin engines have both pistons connected to the same crankpin, causing uneven firing intervals. The front cylinder fires, then 315 crank degrees later the rear cylinder fires, then 405 crank degrees later the front cylinder fires again, and so on.

This creates the classic bang-bang-pause sound, which sounds like someone saying the word "potato."

Harley even attempted to trademark this distinctive sound in 1994, but after six years of legal challenges and mounting costs, they withdrew the application.

I'm not a Harley Davidson guy, but to be honest the engine sound has grown on me over the years. Let me know what you think!
