Hello aspirants! In this video, Rasool sir, Faculty of History on the Ekam platform, explains the very important topic of Subsidiary Alliance. Known in Telugu as Sahayakara Vidhan, this policy was a key strategy used by the English East India Company in 18th-century India.

Learn about the historical context of the 18th century, which is popularly called the "era of puppets" due to the gradual decline of the Mughal Empire and weak rulers. This allowed the English East India Company to get involved in internal affairs and occupy territories. The company, initially a petty commercial organization, had previously conquered territories through battles like Plassey (1757) and Buxar (1764) in Bengal, and by waging four Anglo-Mysore wars to conquer Mysore. However, they instructed their officers to find an alternative strategy to continue the "policy of conquest" but reduce casualties.
