How to pick a great hand spinning fleece--picking a great one is easy, so long as you are armed with a few tips. This is by no means an exhaustive list of finding a good fleece, but it will help steer you away from really, really bad fleeces. Some of this is intuitive for you, so, great! But if not, I hope you spend a moment jotting these tips down.

This video serves to provide a basis of tips for picking out a general fleece. If you know you want a specific kind of fleece, I suggest looking at some websites which talk about the breed you're interested in. The specific tips found there will further help you find the fleece you're looking for.

As a final point, I'm not trying to make shepherds/shepherdesses look like they don't know what they're doing if they have bad fleeces. I know that things happen, and a bad fleece might slip past their radar. I just want you to make sure you buy a fleece from a farm which has had consistently great fleeces.
