If you’re thinking of going to the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya resort and spa in Mexico, watch this video until the end. First off, I want to say that this is an all-inclusive resort, so your food, drinks and stay are completely covered! Here’s what the resort looks like... It’s on a gorgeous stretch of beach about two miles long along the coast, and has an actual conserved Mayan ruin on it! There’s actually a great spot to snorkel, where you’ll see plenty of fish.
The resort itself has a 4/5 star rating on Tripadvisor, which is actually pretty good. I’m sure you’ve seen places that are rated 5 stars on Sunwing and end up being 2 star resorts…. This is ACTUALLY a 4 star resort, if not higher.
The pool area is one of the most amazing parts of this resort. This is the main pool where we spent our timet, amazing swim up bar on both sides… I’m shocked I didn’t get more footage of this actually. Amazing time with tons of people having fun at the bar. One of the best pool swim up bars I’ve ever been to. The resort has three adult size swimming pools as well.
The lazy river here is awesome as well… Just get a blow up floatie, get a drink in your hand and start floating along! I broke my sunglasses in there one of the times we went, but other than that… it was AMAZING!
Next, let’s talk about the food on this resort! This place has two main buffet restaurants, where we had breakfast and lunch. Breakfast was always amazing. I absolutely LOVE omelet stations, so I was there every single morning. Lunch and dinner at the buffet was always delicious, lots of Mexican dishes, a great variety of meats as well, and most importantly, everything was fresh. This was my third time in Mexico, and terms of the food, I’d say that it’s much better than Cuba, Dominican, and even Jamaica.
This resort has 8 thematic restaurants. You have a steak house, which we absolutely LOVED. For $5-$10 US extra, they’ll bring you significantly more lobster, which is great as well. Lots of variety in terms of steaks… I think this was my personal favourite . We also went to the Mexican and Thai restaurants as well. They have a Brazilian resto that’s always in high demand, so I’d recommend trying as many of these as possible!
Let’s talk about entertainment! There was a show here every night… Honestly, the performances were really good.
Let’s move onto the bar scene… There are actually 11 bars at this resort… that’s right, 11. There’s a firelobby bar, where we met a couple of our favourite bartenders, Carlos and Hugo… (ask Carlos for a blue shot that’s in the video, it’ll blow your mind)… Also, take a look at how big and beautiful this lobby is in general! Amazing. We spent most our time at the sky bar, where there was a party every night over here… There was a silent party where everyone gets headphones and can switch up what music you can listed to. There is the sports bar there as well. Most of the time it was pretty full – they were playing a lot of football – both kinds (American and European). Can’t forget about the coffee bar! You can get some amazing spiked coffee there with some Baileys or Frangelico - they make it really well here.
When in Mexico, I definitely recommend doing some day activities… If you’re at a resort, just go up to the lobby and see who can set you up. It’s very easy to do. We did a package that had three activities… Cave diving, ATVing, and ziplinging… checked all the boxes! Loved it.
Let’s talk about the beach for a second… A beautiful white stretch of sand, the beach servers would come by and bring you drinks.. cevezas, margheritas, pina coladas, and pretty much whatever you wanted. Also, remember to tip well everywhere… But the servers basically came until we were off the beach, and the service was great! On a side note, we never really had a serious problem finding beach chairs or anything like that.
You KNOW the boys had to rep Toronto with some Raptors jerseys on the beach… We actually spent quite a lot of time by the water. It was always warm and the atmosphere was fun.
Final thoughts…
If you’re thinking of going to an all-inclusive resort in Mexico around this time, I would highly recommend the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa. I’d give it an 8.5-9/10. Not much could have been better here!
