The mechanisms that initiate a migraine attack are unclear. Some evidence favors a peripheral origin, whereas other data suggest the origin is within the central nervous system. Dr. Thien P. Do & Dr. Anders Hougaard debate whether the origin of migraine attacks is most likely peripheral or central.

Dr. Thien P. Do, MD, is a Clinical Scientist at the Danish Headache Center and a Research Fellow at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. His academic works focus on molecular disease mechanisms underlying migraine pathogenesis. In addition, he has an interest in secondary headaches and is the lead author of the SNNOOP10 list of red flags. Dr. Anders Hougaard, MD, PhD, is a Clinical Scientist and Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Danish Headache Center. His academic works focus on the topic of advanced magnetic resonance imaging in migraine with aura.

This talk was given at the 1st International Conference on Advances in Migraine Sciences (ICAMS) held in Copenhagen, Denmark, March 10-12, 2022. Learn more at https://www.icams2022.com
