With Initial IQ ONE SQIN, the paintable colour-and-form ceramic concept from GC, variations in surface texture, gloss, translucency and deepness are easily achieved on monolithic restorations or restorations with minimal buccal reduction. The ONE SQIN concept can be used for all your zirconia and lithium disilicate restorations. The obtained aesthetics are comparable to conventionally layered restorations but with a significant time gain.
A buccally reduced 4-unit implant bridge was prepared to be characterized with Initial IQ ONE SQIN. First, the dental bridge was characterized with Initial Lustre Pastes ONE. The teeth shade have an inherent fluorescence to mimic the natural fluorescence of the teeth, while the gum shades are non-fluorescent (as gingiva is also not fluorescent). A selection of Initial Lustre Pastes GUM were mixed onto a ceramic plate and the non-fluorescent Lustre Neutral, L-N, was applied onto the gingival area of the bridge as a base layer. In this case, Lustre Paste GUM, shade G-24 was used to mask the zirconia framework. The teeth were covered with the highly fluorescent Lustre Neutral Fluo, L-NFL. The desired shade and chroma were obtained by applying Lustre Body-A. In the incisal area, the translucency is accentuated by the application of Lustre Enamel Effect 3 (Light Grey). The first layer of Initial Lustre Pastes ONE also serves as a connection layer. Optionally, the bridge can be further individualized afterwords. In this case, the interdental papillae were intensified with Initial Lustre Pastes GUM, G-36 (Intensive Red) and the alveolar processes were pronounced with an extra layer of G-24. The chroma in the cervical and middle third of the teeth was further increased with Lustre Body-A. Natural depth was achieved in the incisal area with a mixture of Lustre Pastes Blue and Light Grey and the mamelons were accentuated with Lustre L-4 (Dark Grey). With Lustre Enamel Effect L-2, White, bright zones were created onto the middle part and the mamelons were highlighted. The bridge was again fired in accordance with the instructions inside the Technical Manual. The Lustre Pastes also serve as the connection firing prior to the application of the SQIN ceramic. First, the surface is slightly sandblasted. The Initial SQIN Body D-A is mixed with the dedicated Form & Texture liquid, which gives the SQIN ceramic its unique modelling properties. Enamel E-58 and Translucent TO (Opal Booster) were prepared in the same manner. The dentine part of the tooth was shaped with Dentine Body A. The applied SQIN material can easily be shaped and textured using a brush. On the mesial and distal parts of the incisal edges, Translucent TO was applied and the incisle and middle third of the teeth were covered with a thin layer of Enamel. Similarly, the gingival area was shaped with SQIN GUM. Fine, subtle form and texture details can be created in the wet stage and remain after firing. The autoglaze effect is clearly visible after firing, so an additional glaze firing is not needed.
