Husband requested some aprons and they were so fun to make! Or should I say ‘sew’ fun to make? I used Simplicity’s pattern (number 2824) and altered it a little bit. I ended up adding six inches to the length, and I added a pencil/pen pocket near the top left of the bib of the apron. The pockets are not positioned where the pattern called for them because of where Husband preferred them to be. I also added a loop to hang a hammer on the right side of the apron near the right hand pocket.

When I first started with the fabric I tore it (like I typically do when laying out a project for a pattern) but this weave (similar to denim I think?) is different from what I typically have worked with. In order to fix the error, I used a piece of muslin for the neck strap of one of the aprons. Luckily it isn’t very noticeable and Jake doesn’t care. I was able to practice some of my mending skills as well since I accidentally cut into the fold line on two of the pockets! Oops!
I learned several new techniques from following this pattern and really enjoyed making the video tracking this project.
