End of the N Classes on Albury Services - Old & New V/Line Trains of the Albury line

Описание к видео End of the N Classes on Albury Services - Old & New V/Line Trains of the Albury line

The end of July saw the end of an era for the Albury line, with the last V/Line Albury locomotive hauled passenger train running. New Standard Gauge VLocity trains have now taken over all services between Melbourne's Southern Cross Railway Station & Albury on the border of New South Wales & Victoria. This video features trains from across the months of June & July of the last locomotive-hauled trains and the takeover with new Standard Gauge VLocity also featuring in both single and twin (6 carriages) sets.

The V/Line N Class Diesels were built between 1985 & 1987 to replace other ageing diesels on many services, including the Albury trains. The locomotives have run services on this line since then on Broad Gauge until 2008 and then on Standard Gauge since 2011.

A new timetable from the 28th of August 2022 has been introduced for the line with the faster VLocity trains saving from 7 to 27 minutes depending on the service. One diesel locomotive will remain as a spare with carriages going into storage and the other locomotives been converted back to Broad Gauge with later plans to be sold off to freight operators.
