I Feel Free was a single released in 1966 by Cream, the supergroup comprised of Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce. The song was included on the American LP 'Fresh Cream' but not on the U.K. release

For their first album, Eric exclusively used Gibson 'burst' Les Paul Standards into a Marshall Super Lead amp. And Jack Bruce used a Fender Bass VI- a six string bass (also later used by The Beatles) into a Super Bass Marshall stack. The Bass VI tuning is the same as a six string guitar, but an octave lower- EADGBE

Ginger Baker was playing a Ludwig Silver Sparkle kit in 1966, with two kick drums, two rack toms, and two floor toms. He also used many Zildjian cymbals

The song also features a one-note piano part, a tambourine, handclaps and a ripping guitar solo by Clapton. The solo is an early example of the 'Woman Tone' he became famous for later in Cream. This involves turning the tone knob down on the guitar (into a distorting amplifier) to create a reedy, flute-like sustaining lead sound

I'm playing my Squier Bass VI into a real 1965 Fender Bassman amp, using the neck pickup only. Jack Bruce did not use a pick, so I struggled to play the six string bass with my fingers, given its relatively tight string spacing. I also got a nasty blister by the end of filming!

For Eric's guitar, I'm playing my 2005 Gibson Les Paul Standard into the 1965 Bassman as well. I'm using a combination of Wampler Plexi Drive and Analogman King of Tone pedals to get the overdriven Marshall sound

For the guitar solo, Eric starts off on the middle or neck pickup with the tone knob rolled down (Woman Tone). Then he switches to the bridge pickup for the end of the solo. Here are my knob settings for the solo-
Bridge: Vol 10, Tone 10
Neck: Vol 10, Tone 4.8
