Lisa Gade reviews the Wacom MobileStudio Pro 13, the much improved successor to the Cintiq Companion 2. This is a purpose-built drawing tablet with a full Windows 10 Pro computer inside. It weighs 3.1 lb. (1.4 kg) and has a QHD 2560 x 1440 IPS display with an etched matte glass display, near zero parallax and improved color gamut (94% Adobe RGB). The machine starts at $1,500 and we look at the top of the line $2,500 model with a dual core Intel Skylake 28 watt Core i7 CPU with Intel Iris 550 graphics, 16 gigs of RAM and a 512 gig SSD.

The tablet has dual band WiFi 802.11ac with Bluetooth, 3 USB-C ports, an SD card slot and it runs Windows 10. Wacom also offers the MobileStudio Pro 16 with a 15.6” high gamut 4K display and NVIDIA Quadro M1001M 4GB GDDR5 dedicated graphics. Both ship with the new Pro Pen 2 with 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity and tilt support. First generation Pro Pen nibs are fully compatible complete with max pressure sensitivity, and you can use older WacomEMR pens but without the higher pressure sensitivity of the new pen.
