For today's Virtual Program we're joining CI Volunteer Jacob Davis and Operations Manager Matthew Wedd to explore the cultural importance of 18th Century Taverns.
Taverns were common place in the 18th century, and still are today. One could hear the latest news, do business, eat, and even recruit for war. In 1775 Samuel Nicholas established a recruiting headquarters at Tun Tavern Philadelphia for the newly formed Marines ( United States Marine Corps).
Stick around as there's a treat at the end with a little ditty called "The Vly Be On The Turmut".
