In the Collision Repair Program, on the main Chattanooga State campus, students receive instruction in the practices and procedures used in repairing and refinishing vehicles.

The three semester course, accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation, begins with auto construction, and progresses through repair techniques for all body parts. It further provides the basic understanding of engines sometimes necessary for collision repairs. Students will receive theoretical instruction and testing, but a major emphasis is placed on the hands-on activities essential to the development of knowledge and skills required for successful careers.

Automotive body repair technicians straighten bent frames, remove dents, replace parts crumpled beyond repair, and paint and refinish the car body and the interior and exterior parts attached to it. Also stressed is diagnosing damages and estimating the cost of repairs. Graduates of the program are qualified to take certification tests of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence and pursue such careers as:
• Auto body repair technician
• Painter
• Alignment Tech
• Collision Sales Supply
• Repair cost estimator
• Or, Insurance adjuster
