One of the most efficient and versatile techniques that's (probably) unique to Ashihara Karate- the Cutting Kick.

Resembling the low roundhouse kick, the cutting kick serves to upset the opponent's balance rather than to inflict pain or damage.

Depending on the position and timing relative to the opponent, the kick can be used to expose the opponent's blindspot, break down his defences, or result in a take down where he can be better controlled.
