Light the Barricades is an interactive public art installation by artists Candy Chang and James A. Reeves commissioned by the Annenberg Space for Photography. The project provides a modern ritual for distracting times and offers an engaging opportunity to contemplate walls both physically and emotionally in advance of the forthcoming exhibit, W|ALLS: Defend, Divide, and the Divine. As part of our ongoing 10th anniversary celebration, Light the Barricades will open at three distinct locations across Los Angeles – Grand Park in downtown LA, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County in Exposition Park, and the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica – before coming together at the Annenberg Space for Photography for the duration of W|ALLS. Chang and Reeves sat down to discuss the Photo Space’s first foray into public art.
