Hi, this is Aubra Palermo a realtor. Today I’m going to discuss a new real estate scam. When you buy a home, you put a lot of pressure on yourself. When you find the perfect home in a competitive real estate market, you might be tempted to make your move as soon as possible. This helps scammers take advantage of potential home buyers by tricking them into paying for properties that do not exist or misrepresenting the terms of a deal.

I heard an interesting new scam and they said that they were told to mail their money to a house address. You know home businesses send your money in and then we will send you your item. They told them to mail the check and that they were going to then be sending the item from one of our properties that was listed for sale that happens to be vacant and so the people sent their money. They never received anything and then they went by the house and saw our real estate sign and said where are these people they've moved. you know where did they go and so we traced it backward and the person come to find out the person with the scam had filed a mail forward so they received the check of course.


Please be aware of all of these different scams that are going on. if you see an address and
you question it if you see the properties for sale and you're not sure call the real estate agent call someone and ask them to call the owner and you know to ask them to confirm so you can talk to someone just try and be aware I just had never heard of that scam happening and was just taken back by just one more thing that people are trying to scam people.
