Daulatabad Fort, also known as Devagiri Fort or Deogiri Fort, is a historic fortified citadel located in Daulatabad village near Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India. It was the capital of the Yadava dynasty, for a brief time the capital of the Delhi Sultanate, and later a secondary capital of the Ahmadnagar Sultanate.

In 1313, probably at his own request, Malik Kafur led another expedition to Devagiri, against Ramachandra's successor Simhana III (or Shankaradeva). He defeated and killed him for unsuccessfully rebelling against Alauddin Khalji., and annexed Devagiri to the Delhi Sultanate.200 meters above the sea level. Its strategic location, incredible architecture, and three-layer defense system made it one of the most powerful hill fortresses of the medieval period.

In 1328, Muhammad bin Tughluq of Delhi Sultanate transferred the capital of his kingdom to Devagiri, and renamed it Daulatabad.

It takes 3 hours to visit major parts of the fort. There is lot of walking/trekking inside the fort and is suitable for physically active visitors.
