They say TV news viewership is down but you know what - people still need local news - and if they don’t get it from TV broadcasts they get it from News Station’s online platforms

More News on more platforms - It all equates to more revenue being generated.

Here’s what I’ll tell you, there’s a need for television news now and there will always be a need for TV News

There’s a need for good television news because when there’s breaking news or severe weather or something of importance in your community, none of the networks are going to be in your neighborhood in a timely fashion - and certainly not to give you any relevant information.

In my career - I’ve never seen a black hole air in a newscast

there’s always a commercial to air

I believe there’s still competition to get a slot in the local newscast

even 3rd place TV stations are selling ads

as long as there’s ambulance chasing attorneys - as long as there’s insurance companies - and home improvement companies- as long as there’s political ads …

TV news will always make money

And to keep the commercials from bumping into one another, they will always need reporters and anchors and producers and news operations - producing News - because it’s a local product

In fact, the trend is to get rid of syndicated programming and make the news department produce more news shows for another half hour earlier in the day

that’s why you’re seeing the elimination of Dr. Phil and Oprah and game shows, etc.

because news is local and inexpensive programming
