Have you heard of a disease caused by parasitic worms and transmitted through freshwater snails?

It’s called schistosomiasis – and it can cause chronic pain, bleeding and organ damage. It affects 250 million people globally. But despite its scale, it remains underfunded and underprioritised.

In this Wellcome Guest Lecture, Bonnie Webster, Principal Researcher at the Natural History Museum, dives into her research aimed at understanding the parasite’s biology and improving how the disease is treated.
