HOW TO TIE ASSIST HOOKS ON SPADE HEADED HOOKS
While not so common in the west, Spade head hooks (or hooks without eyes) are quite commonly used in Japan and the rest of Asia for all types of jigging. Characteristically thinner than their eyed counterparts, they are favoured by anglers for their superior penetration especially for slow jigging.

People in the western world shy away from these hooks because they are not familiar with the methods used to make assist hooks with them. But at the same time, these are favored in Asia for the reasons stated above. They are also a bit more economical than their eyed counterparts, but offer a bit more advantage especially when the fishing is a bit tough.
