Fever is the most common symptom for which parents bring their child to a Pediatrician.

It could occur as a response to infections, inflammation and sometimes due to other are causes.

The safest and easily available medicine for fever in children is PARACETAMOL (ACETAMINOPHEN). But it comes in various formulations in India creating confusion amongst parents and many others about its use and dosage.

Body temperature above 99.6*F or 37.5*C is called fever.

Your child’s medicine kit should ideally contain only 1 Paracetamol formulation to avoid confusion in dosing.

I would suggest to keep Syrup PARACETAMOL (120mg/5ml) in the kit.

Tepid sponging with room temperature water from head to toe alongwith oral Paracetamol could be used as first-aid in children at home till you visit the pediatrician.
