Building New Worlds: A Cultural Reading of Oppression and Liberation Movements

Описание к видео Building New Worlds: A Cultural Reading of Oppression and Liberation Movements

Culture, including art, literature, music and knowledge systems, allows us to acknowledge the world and our place in it and bear witness to our lived experiences, dreams and aspirations while retaining agency. The practice of art enables us to become more ourselves. The more we become ourselves, the more we can define who we are not; this is a pillar of liberation.

This session explores the role of culture (art, literature, music, and knowledge systems) in perpetuating colonial oppression and our right and duty to assess, dismantle, rebuild, reimagine, and speak of new liberated futures.

Speakers: Fiona Sunshine Komusana and Nombuso Mathibela
Moderator: Mubeezi Tenda
Host: Liberation Alliance Africa
