What to Expect from your visit to nomad’s abode
To reach this place, you have to trek downhill on your own around 5 km from kookal village which is 30 km ahead of kodai. It’s completely remote, secluded and offbeat place, away from all the chaos and madness. I don’t know whether it’s good or bad for you, property is not connected to grid. No electricity and minimal mobile network good enough for emergency calls outside the house (only jio / Vodafone)
Solar setup will take care of basic lighting to move around inside the house, most of the days. So trying their best to keep things functional and sustainable in every possible way.
This is not a commercial place. It’s primarily a self built retirement home and a passion place where Vinay, the house owner , live full time and willing to share only with likeminded souls who are really keen on outdoors, mother nature and willing to experience slow living and something unique. Abode is spacious enough with one common bathroom. But we have couple of cozy bunker beds, mats and warm sleeping bags for sleeping.
Cost per person for a day is 2500 (differs based on group size and number of days) inclusive of all meals simple vegetarian home food cooked by host, (breakfast with eggs, lunch (south Indian meals), dinner, coffee / tea, and guided trek to a small private waterfalls nearby (subject to climatic condition, wildlife movement, and situation).
Apart from most popular kookal or thoothur waterfalls (as of now it’s restricted by forest department) the area have lots of secluded waterfalls around, which are not yet visible on social media or accessibile to general public. Abode is amidst carpet of mountains and wilderness of tiger reserve and wildlife sanctuaries, with perennial river right next to home. There’s zero light pollution which makes it a perfect place for sky gazing (possibly Milky Way and meteor shower too) and fireflies on most of the nights and if lucky, most of the wild animals are sighted from the comfort of home.
There’s no hot water facility for bathing. Smoking cigarette in designated place is fine as long as it’s in limit, not disturbing the sanctity of the place, resident or other guests. But strictly NO loud music, ALCOHOL, WEED, MUSHROOM or any illegal substances. Everyone’s safety and well being is priority, considering the remote and secluded location of abode.
