The story of this rare vibrant pinkish-red stone gracing the cover of Terra Spinel Book began 17 years ago in the Pamir Mountains, where it was found at the legendary Kuh-i-Lal mine – home to the world's most celebrated royal jewels, from the great Mughals to the Maharajas, the magnificent red spinels and diamonds sparkling in the center of the Crown Jewels in the largest kingdoms until now. The original crystal polished out of the 160-carat rough was a masterpiece in itself, a belated young brother of the Black Prince's Ruby from the British Crown.
But a born cutter simply cannot help cutting. He can sit still for a long while, cherishing the rough as it is... but at a certain point he will not resist to unveil the soul of the gem, to let it flicker with all its facets, revealing its maximum color, brilliance and life.
