Defence Road


Isn’t this just a street with plenty of traffic?
Like many streets downtown, you’re going to hit traffic. Defence Road has more than honking horns. There’s plenty of apartment options, medical properties, restaurants and of course, the electrical shops.

Why are there so many electrical shops here?
We couldn’t tell you why exactly they’re all clustered here, but we can tell you this is the place to go for phone and tablet repairs. Each shop offers competitive prices to its rivals, so have your bargaining skills ready. These shops also sell and buy phones secondhand. And they’ve always got a great selection, from the latest releases to phones you only want to SMS and call on. The shops are also rammed with accessories and other electrical goods like Bluetooth speakers, headphones and more. We just recommend shopping around before you buy anything. Practice those haggling skills!

Can you eat around here?
You’ve got a great mix of restaurants and fast food outlets here. Just behind the main road are small cafes like Mandolin Cafe and Blalait Cafe, which have great coffee. You should also visit Saudi Cuisine for some grilled meats, but Shawarma Counter is by far our favourite. This restaurant is tucked away on Aradah Street, just off Defence Road, and serves up one of our favourite shawarmas in the city. You and a friend can eat and drink for less than Dhs50, so it’s super affordable too.
