imma keep it real with u, i originally started this level because i wanted to try out doing modern, but then i got carried away and made the 2nd part. then i realized i don't actually have anything else in my head, but that 2nd part was too good (for my current skill level) to throw away, cuz of both the pulsing objs idea, the execution of the visuals, and how close it was to the vision in my head for that exact part of the song, so i was like "yknow what? im gonna make this a short level, kinda as practice to do better visuals since there's more incentive for it in this level instead of just effect dumping without cohesion or quality control like i did in "key" or "curl up".
unfortunately, it still turned out slightly off in cohesion, and definitely still a level built with a novelty-centric mindset. i mean dont get me wrong, it still looks a lot better than my previous works, and definitely a lot more consistent in quality, but that's simply cuz i have improved a ton since "key".
this is still extremely far from where i wanna be, cuz i've seen so much good shit in gd (im talkin xenoteric, optical, kips..), plus some things outside the game that are possible to execute in gd, and will be even more doable with 2.2 soon, that it's no longer enough to just learn from gd creators (ok tbf it was never enough to begin with cuz most of the highest skill creators even way back in 2.0 learn(ed) from outside gd), but again idk if it's really worth learning just for the sake of a $2 game lmao.
that being said, i'm happy with this level, it's definitely my best level so far, and a noticeable step up in skill, and i hope y'all like it too.
