This aircraft was wearing temporary Finnish Air Force markings build by Phil Lawton after long restoration. Real registration is G-CBOE. Nowadays this beauty is wearing RAF markings and is painted in silver colour scheme.

Hawker High Speed Interceptor Monoplane was originally a private design project of Hawker. The aircraft flew first time on November 6th 1935 and in June 1936 it was named Hurricane. The Royal Air Force ordered 600 Hurricanes in June 1936. During the Winter War Britain sold Finland 12 Hawker Hurricane Is. 10 of them arrived to Finland, unfortunately too late. The lack of spare parts the number of operative Hurricanes sank to five during the Continuation War. During the Continuation War Finland got three Soviet Hurricane IIs as war booty and one of them was repaired to flying condition.

This Hurricane originally Hurricane Mk.XIIb built by Canadian Car and Foundry Company . It first flew 1941. as HC-465 it represents the Hurricane captured by Finnish forces in 1942 and flown operationally in 1944.

Hurricanessa on 1650 hevosvoiman 27-litrainen Rolls-Royce Merlin 24/500 V12 -moottori, joka kuluttaa matkalennossa noin 200 litraa 100 oktaanista lentokonebensiiniä tunnissa. Esityslennossa polttoainetta palaa jopa 450 litran tuntivauhtia.

Suomessa esiintynyt kone on alun perin Kanadassa rakennettu Hurricane Mk.XIIb eli lisenssillä valmistettu Mk.II. Koneen rakensi Canadian Car and Foundry Company ja se lensi ensilentonsa kesällä 1941.

Lawtonin kone esittää sotasaaliina saatua Neuvostoliiton Ilmavoimien Hurricanea, joka kunnostettiin Suomen Ilmavoimille ja sai tuolloin tunnuksen HC-465. Sama koneyksilö lensi viimeisen Hurricane-lennon Suomessa 31. toukokuuta 1944

HC-465 aloitti uransa Britanniassa Royal Air Forcessa 1941, mutta toimitettiin joulukuussa 1941 Neuvostoliiton ilmavoimille lend-lease -apuna. Helmikuussa 1942 kone teki pakkolaskun Tuoppajärvelle Uhtuan suunnassa.
