The electric grid has operated the same way for over 100 years. In BC, power is generated at hydroelectric generating stations, transmitted to cities, and then distributed to residents. With growing electric demand due to electric vehicles and the electrification of our society, what impact will we see on the grid today? How can the grid, and the power industry overall, evolve to support this new load? Join Draydan Power, Manager of Energy & Environment with the City of Penticton, to answer these questions and get an understanding of how utilities are preparing for these changes.

Draydan Power was born and raised in Summerland, BC. He is the Manager of Energy & Environment with the City of Penticton, which is responsible for the City’s electric utility and climate action departments. Prior to working for the City, Draydan worked for FortisBC for 10 years in various departments focused on the generation, transmission, and distribution of renewable electricity in the southern interior of BC.

The Brown Bag Lecture Series is an opportunity to spice up your lunch hour with interesting presentations and discussions on a variety of heritage and culture topics.
