This is a public debate on "How different approaches to theory development in management studies could be employed in the PhD process."

Two distinguished scholars --Dr. Andy Lowe of the Grounded Research Institute in California and Prof. Nikhilesh Dholakia of the University of Rhode Island -- debate the use of inductive and deductive research. Andy advocates for inductive research; Nikhilesh - for deductive.

The debate is moderated by Dr. Romeo V. Turcan of Aalborg University. The debate took place at the Oulu Business School, being supported by and organized under the auspices of the Martti Ahtisaari Institute of Global Business and Economics.

This public debate is part of the Theory Building Research Programme (www.tbrp.aau.dk). TBRP brings together international scholars passionate about theory building and theorising. TBRP is also a lovely hub that facilitates cross-disciplinary training and research, as well as much needed conceptual and methodological pluralism.
