The Gaunching Execution Method | Medieval Punishments | Medieval Executions | Worst Torture Method

Описание к видео The Gaunching Execution Method | Medieval Punishments | Medieval Executions | Worst Torture Method

The process of gaunching was meticulously staged to maximize suffering and public impact. Metal hooks or spikes, sometimes barbed for added grip, were securely fastened to a vertical surface or scaffold in rows at varying heights. The condemned, often stripped to expose their skin, was restrained and hoisted above the hooks before being either dropped suddenly or lowered slowly onto them. The sharp points pierced the body on impact, creating deep, agonizing wounds. The victim’s weight caused further descent onto the hooks, worsening the injuries, while any attempt to struggle only intensified the pain. Death was rarely immediate, with many enduring hours of excruciating torment, their cries echoing as a chilling warning to onlookers.
