We did a schedule adjustment to compensate for the weather. Our original plan was to drive from Rocky Mountain National Park to Breckenridge and spend two nights bicycling there. With two plus days of cold rain and snow forecasted, we canceled our hotel in Breckenridge and booked a couple of nights in Colorado Springs. The main objective of Colorado Springs was the Garden of the Gods, but we adapted and decided to spend a couple of days exploring the bicycle trails in Colorado Springs. We were pleasantly surprised at the amount and quality of the bicycle trails. It turned out to be a good place to hole up for a couple of days and be able to get out and bicycle. Our second ride in Colorado Springs was the Cottonwood Creek Trail. It is a nice trail with quite a bit of elevation gain. After about 7 miles the trail becomes dirt for a while and then you have to weave your way through neighborhoods before finally connecting to the Wolf Lake Trail. The signage is not very good.
