I’ve dedicated much of my life to Sydney’s nightlife — first as a promoter, producer, and later as an innovator. I’ve seen what truly makes a city thrive after dark: diversity, creativity, and collaboration between independents, larger groups, artists, and government.

In 2009, I founded Three Cheers because I could see the lockout laws coming. I proposed solutions to reduce alcohol harm without destroying culture — but these ideas weren’t adopted. The result? Sydney’s once world-class nightlife collapsed.

The NSW Productivity Commission now confirms what many of us lived through: the lockouts were a turning point. But there’s an opportunity to rebuild — and do it better.

To restore Sydney’s night-time economy, we need to reengage the Eastern Suburbs, once the heart of a diverse and creative nightlife that attracted the whole city. A thriving late-night economy doesn’t just serve locals — it draws people from across Sydney and beyond.

My focus is on practical solutions for sustainable, safe, and world-class nightlife. Sydney deserves nights that match its harbour, beaches, and culture: unforgettable, inclusive, and alive.
