Demystifying ACS: Essential Knowledge for Medical Students and Interns!

This is another video in my "Intern Survival" series that teaches the fundamentals of ACS - aka Acute Coronary Syndrome. This video is your crash course in Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS). We'll break down the essentials you need to know, from recognizing the different types of ACS to navigating initial management.

As you may know, acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a term used to describe patients who have suspected or confirmed acute myocardial ischemia or infarction. ACS can present as unstable angina (UA), acute non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), or acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Clinicians should consider the possibility of ACS in any adult who presents to the emergency department complaining of chest discomfort or dyspnea. This video will give you a 20,000 foot overview of how to think about and manage ACS.

In this video, we will cover:
- Basics: What is ACS? How does it Work? Underlying Pathophysiology?
- What is High Sensitivity Troponin?
- Aside from CARDIAC Chest Pain, what are the other causes of chest pain?
- Treatments : Explore the initial management steps for optimal patient care.
- Differentiating the Players: Understand the distinctions between unstable angina, NSTEMI, and STEMI.
