Presenting Raag Devgiri Bilawal by Pt. Harish Tiwari.

In olden days Raag Devgiri Bilawal did not have the suffix "Bilaval", it was simply Devgiri. In the Carnatic system it was known as Devakri or Devakriya. V.N. Bhatkande assigns Devgiri Bilawal to the Bilawal thaat, but concludes that it also has a Kalyan Ang which dominates the poorvang, while Bilawal , from which the raag is derives dominates the uttrang. The Raag generally elaborated in Mandra an Madhya saptak. Bhatkande cautions against even limited use of Teevra Ma, which may take Devgiri near Yamani Bilawal.
