On March 25, 2011, Utah became the first state in recent history to officially accept gold and silver coins as legal tender at their true value. This has promoted praise from sound-money advocates who have been warning about the dangers of the Federal Reserve System and its fiat money. This video was created to educate on the history of money and help pass the bill.

This video -- part 1 of 3 -- was created to educate on the history of money.

According to the "Utah Legal Tender Act," as the law is known, Utah now "recognizes gold and silver coins that are issued by the federal government as legal tender in the state and exempts the exchange of the coins from certain types of state tax liability." The law does not force anyone to accept or pay in precious metals, but rather provides the option for those who wish to do so voluntarily. Congratulations to Utah!
