Raag Gaud Sarang | Indian Classical Music | Anirudh Srinivasraghavan

Описание к видео Raag Gaud Sarang | Indian Classical Music | Anirudh Srinivasraghavan

Concert organized by Milind Pradhan at Ashburn, Virginia. Anirudh started the concert with Raga Gaud Sarang, a raga in Hindustani classical music that combines characteristics of Sarang and the now extinct raga named Gaud. Unlike most other members of the Sarang family of ragas, Gaud Sarang is assigned to the Kalyan thaat rather than the usual Kafi. Trivia: The Indian National Anthem Jana gana mana is set to Raga Gaud Sarang with influences from other Ragas as well.

3 compositions in this rendition: Vilambit (slow) composition in Jhumra (14 beat cycle) "Paati Jhar Gaiyya"; Madhyalaya (medium paced) composition in Teentaal (16 beat cycle) "Piya Basera" composed by the legendary Padma Vibhushan Late Pt. Kumar Gandharva; Drut (fast) composition in Ektaal (12 beat cycle) "Maandi Khabari" (a rare Punjabi language Hindustani classical composition).

Anirudh is accompanied by Shreyas Ravi on the Harmonium, Suresh Ramaswamy on the Tabla, and Anil Maybhate on the Tanpura
