The Pilot. A Battle for Survival (Russian: Лётчик, romanized: Lyotchik) is a 2021 Russian WWII film written and directed by Renat Davletyarov, based on the real story, is dedicated to the pilot Aleksey Maresyev and other heroes of the Great Patriotic War, who found himself in similar circumstances, lost both legs, but still continued to fight.


Plot: December, 1941. The Battle of Moscow is at its peak. A Soviet ground-attack aircraft Il-2 Sturmovik, captained by Nikolai Komlev, shoots up a German armored vehicle column, then ends up under heavy fire from enemy ME-109 fighter planes and anti-aircraft systems. The Soviet pilot gets hit, crash lands in enemy territory and is then forced to undertake a hard and perilous journey home through dense winter woods, swarming with German patrols and packs of hungry wolves.
