This is my attempt to play the first part of the epic Tarkus - Eruption from Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

There is one small detail I would like to highlight:

Many tabs on the internet show the first part as a "back and forth" between two consecutive bass frets, starting from the 13th fret and going to the 14th fret.

When we see Greg Lake playing, instead of playing the first three low strings (E - A - D) of the 13th fret, he starts with the last three strings (A - D - G) 5 frets back.

For example: he starts at the 8th fret of the A string, passes through the D and G strings on the same fret and advances to the 13th fret, going up from the G, D and A String. Then he plays the D string of the 14th fret, passing through the string A and E.

He uses one finger to play the three frets (I guess in English it's called a barre chord, but I'm not sure) and advances 5 frets forward. I did the finger-by-finger typing because I couldn't make it sound as clean as Greg did by playing the way he played :D

I make it clear that it is not wrong to play the frets consecutively, because the notes are the same. But the question remains: why did Greg Lake play like that?

The bass line I took a part from videos of Greg Lake playing Tarkus live, a part from Songsterr and a part by ear.

Still, it's not 100% correct, but I did it with a lot of love, care and respect for Greg Lake's bass line and the band's work.
