JJ Abrams & Andrew Jarecki | The Eyes of Robots and Murderers | SXSW Convergence 2016

Описание к видео JJ Abrams & Andrew Jarecki | The Eyes of Robots and Murderers | SXSW Convergence 2016

A conversation with filmmakers and tech innovators JJ Abrams and Andrew Jarecki about the relevance of the human factor in digital communications. Advances in digital storytelling tools, and the mass adoption of social media promise to enhance our ability to share authentic human experience. But ironically, they can also reduce the human factor, stranding us in the superficial valley of CGI and perfect selfies. In the past year, JJ’s film “Star Wars,” “The Force Awakens,” broke ranks with the genre by emphasizing practical effects and live actors; Andrew’s HBO series “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst,” broke ground by exposing a murderer. Longtime friends and collaborators JJ and Andrew will discuss their journeys, and the importance of the eyes of robots and murderers as windows into the souls of their characters and stories. They will shows unseen clips and introduce KnowMe, a new mobile video platform for authentic self-expression.

About SXSW:
Started in 1987, South by Southwest (SXSW) is a set of film, interactive, and music festivals and conferences that take place early each year in mid-March in Austin, Texas. SXSW’s original goal was to create an event that would act as a tool for creative people and the companies they work with to develop their careers, to bring together people from a wide area to meet and share ideas. That continues to be the goal today whether it is music, film or interactive technologies.
