If you're in a 1099 situation or a business owner, it is my understanding that if you don't take out a normal salary from your company that you can instead use the number you generally take out for personal use. I'm using my last tax statement to do this for companies where I don't give myself a salary directly, (like an S-Corp). Is this the perfect way to do it? Not sure, because things keep changing on everything that's getting rolled out, but that is my understanding from a couple of certified public accountants.

Collecting unemployment may take around three weeks per what I am hearing from California. It is obviously taking longer now because of unemployment spots across the country, especially for the unemployed in California and New York.

It is important to understand that you will be collecting unemployment from two entities: the federal government and your local state government. The $600 a week is coming from the feds. You will also be collecting an additional amount weekly from your state, but that amount varies by state.

If you are a furloughed employee you can still collect unemployment benefits, even if you still work some hours a week. It's my understanding that you'll just collect a lesser amount based on your wages.
